Abductors of nine Abuja-bound passengers demand N10m ransom

Suspected kidnappers of the nine Lagos-Abuja bound passengers have demanded N10million as ransom before their release, First News has learnt.

The victims, who were traveling in a Sienna bus, were abducted between Ifira-Akoko and Idoani in Ondo state on Friday.

A reliable source disclosed to First News that the abductors had contacted the relations of some of the victims.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Isua Division, Superintendent Olowoyo Akinbode has confirmed the incident.

He said that his men, in collaboration with local vigilance group operatives and local hunters, had been combing the forest in an attempt to rescue the victims from the den of the kidnappers.

The DPO, therefore, appealed to anyone with relevant information to share such with the police  to facilitate the arrest of the miscreants.

Chairman to Akoko South East Local Government Area, Mr. Yomi Babatunde, described the incident as very unfortunate because the area in recent times had witnessed relative peace without armed robbery and kidnapping.

Babatunde noted that residents had volunteers and were ready to join security agents to rescue the kidnapped travellers.

He gave kudos to the police and other security agencies for their efforts to rescue the kidnapped travellers without unhurt.
