2nd Anniversary: Tinubu’s Achievements in FCT Unprecedented — Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, on Thursday praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as “unprecedented performance” in Abuja within just two years of his administration.

Wike, who spoke after inspecting several ongoing infrastructure projects in the capital city, declared that Tinubu had transformed Abuja in ways never seen before, crediting the President for revitalizing the capital and fulfilling his promise of delivering meaningful governance.

“This has never happened before,” Wike said. “All of us who once criticized the state of Abuja have now confessed that Abuja is working. And who made it work? It is Mr. President.”

The former Rivers State Governor said Tinubu’s accomplishments in the FCT mirror his broader national performance, asserting that “his achievements are visible in every part of the country.”

‘Give Him Another Opportunity’

Wike further noted that Nigerians were beginning to call for another term for President Tinubu, citing his bold infrastructure drive and consistent policy delivery.

“Based on what the President has achieved in two years, you can imagine what will happen in the next two or four years. People are already saying, ‘give him another opportunity’,” he added.

Major Projects to Be Commissioned

The minister’s remarks came during a tour of major road and infrastructure projects set to be commissioned to mark Tinubu’s second year in office.

Among the completed works is the Apo-Wassa Junction Road — the left-wing service lane of the Outer Southern Expressway — which Wike said is now fully completed and will soon be fitted with streetlights to enhance security.

He also inspected the N20 Interchange, a strategic flyover connecting Wole Soyinka Way to the Murtala Mohammed Expressway (Kubwa Expressway), which he said would be inaugurated soon.

In addition, Wike visited the access road linking Obafemi Awolowo Way to the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal in the Dakibiyu District, noting that it too is nearing completion and will be among projects lined up for Tinubu’s anniversary celebration.

‘Abuja Deserves the Best’

Reiterating his commitment to Tinubu’s vision, Wike said his primary focus remains delivering on the president’s directive to make Abuja a capital befitting all Nigerians.

“For me, I cannot give anything less. The residents of Abuja deserve the best and the contractors are doing their best. We are delivering results,” Wike said.

He assured that all the contractors are working under tight timelines and performance-based expectations, in line with the renewed drive for results under the #RenewedHope agenda.

Call for Citizens’ Support

The minister also appealed to residents of the FCT to fulfill their civic responsibilities and support the administration’s efforts to maintain and expand development across the capital.

“While we are building infrastructure, we also call on residents to support this government, to make Abuja a pride for all Nigerians,” Wike said.

As President Tinubu prepares to mark two years in office, the FCT stands as a visible testament to his administration’s resolve to deliver transformational change — a fact Wike says will speak for itself when Nigerians look around their nation’s capital.
