2027: I Have No Presidential Ambition — Yahaya Bello

Former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, says he has no intention of running for president in 2027 and remains firmly behind President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Bello, through a statement by his media director Michael Ohiare on Friday, May 23, expressed shock over a viral video from 2022 now being used to suggest he’s already campaigning against Tinubu.

“While we state categorically, that our principal, Bello, has no 2027 presidential ambition, we want to also stress his unflinching commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu come 2027,” the statement said.

Ohiare went on to praise the current administration’s performance, despite global headwinds.

“The indices cannot lie. The President and his team have done exceedingly well for the country, despite global challenges. On merit, he deserves the support of well-meaning Nigerians,” he said.

Reacting to the doctored narrative, Bello’s team described the video as nothing but an old rally from 2022, still carrying visible date markers, being misrepresented by political mischief makers.

“Nigerians should disregard the mischievous post insinuating a fresh presidential support rally as what it is – a senseless post by a confused, witless mind,” Ohiare stated.

He blamed persistent detractors for trying, yet again, to damage Bello’s image and drive a wedge between him and the president.

“The fabricators have tried so hard in their ‘bring-him-down-at-all-costs’ mission against Bello but have always failed woefully,” he said.

According to him, this latest attempt, recycling old footage to mislead Nigerians, was desperate and ill-thought-out.

“Nigerians should be wary of witless persons who concoct stories without thinking, just to satisfy the interests of their paymasters,” he said.

Ohiare called on the public to ignore the rumour and focus on real issues, stressing that there is no crisis between Bello and the presidency.
